Today 5 October is the World Teachers Day

5 October is a day to celebrate teachers and the central role they play in guiding children, youths & adults through the life-long learning process. This year, World Teachers’ Day will focus on the role of teachers within the context of the global financial and economic crisis and the need to invest in teachers now as a means to secure post-crisis regeneration.

It is critical, during these difficult times, to seek mechanisms that protect the teaching profession. It is also crucial, despite the crisis, to ensure that investment in teachers is sufficient and proportionate to the demands made upon them. It is the teaching force with its knowledge, experience and foresight which can bring new insights to global solutions. Join us in celebrating this!

Me an Entrepreneur?

What is entrepreneurship & economy? Who is an entrepreneur? Which are the qualities of an entrepreneur and which the advantages of being an entrepreneur? All the questions will find an answer in the general meeting on 13 may at the Andiamo New Hall where Mr. Patrick Bwanali will give an introduction lesson on the topic. All the students of all A.E.I. Schools are invited to join it.

A brief explanation of Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship is assuming responsibility and risk in designing and implementing a strategy with which to begin a
business. The individual is known as an entrepreneur, running a small business venture, assuming the risks and rewards from it, instead of working for another business as an employee. The entrepreneur combines "land, labor, and capital" with a particular idea or skill of his in order to run his business and offer its particular goods or services. There are inherent risks and potential losses involved, and also an opportunity for greater profit should the idea see success.

Entrepreneur frequently has the same meaning as founder. Some entrepreneurs are considered to be self-employed, although others may receive salary or wages from their company. At times, they may need to accept a high level of risk in different areas, such as financial, professional, or personal risks. Many entrepreneurships (or business ventures begun by the individuals) fail, at times leaving the entrepreneurs with significant losses.

Entrepreneurs are one part of an economy, and particularly receive focus in a capitalistic one. Taking ideas along with the resources they have at their disposal, they attempt to make the venture profitable. Additionally, other types of entrepreneurs exist: the political entrepreneur, the social entrepreneur, and others. Recently, new technology has led to classifications such as the Internet entrepreneur and the digital entrepreneur.

Know about Andiamo Technical College

Andiamo Technical College which is one of the Education Institutions under Andiamo Youth Cooperative Trust was founded in the year 1995 by Father Mario Pacifici.

The main objective of the College is to train the youth of Malawi in different technical skills to be self reliant in the future. The college offers the following courses: motor vehicle mechanics, carpentry and joinery, electrical installation and brick laying on pending.

Since the college opened it has trained almost 1200 youths both boys and girls.

After conducting a survey it has been discovered that 75% of them are able to sustain their living through self employment and being employed by various companies within and outside Malawi.

A part from just training the youth in different skills the college offers extra curriculum courses such as agriculture, information technology that will be applied soon to all the trainings, and others.

The college also encourages the youth to associate themselves in different clubs and societies such as AIDS Club, Debate Club, Art Club, Football, Netball, Volleyball, indoor games and religious clubs in order to give them the free time where to share different experiences.

The college has got well qualified tutors, a Library (andiamolibrary.blogspot.com), entertainment complex, good classrooms, well designed hostels, workshops and well brick faced walls which secure the college environment.

Though the Cooperative has managed to come up with this recommendable facilities, still more the college faces a lot of challenges such as lack of modern equipments in the workshops, books for the library, sports equipment, classrooms and teacher houses.

Hence we appeal to the well wishers who can rise up and assist us within our areas on needs.
